Sloane Ritchey accepted a position in the College of Agriculture Research Office as a Sponsored Projects Specialist. In her new position, she is expected to play a major role in helping manage the $15 million Grain and Forage Center of Excellence grant from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund. In addition, she will work in collaboration with the College Grants Officers to facilitate new proposal submissions by faculty at UKREC as well as select high-priority grant applications across the College. She will serve as a resource for resolving grant-related administrative issues requiring assistance from the Research Office (e.g., stalled contracts, capital equipment justifications, etc.). Lastly, she will also assist the Research Office with grant funding reports and research accountability.
Before accepting this position, Ritchey worked for seven years as a Research Administrator at the University of Kentucky Office of Sponsored Projects Administration for the College of Agriculture. Before working in research administration, she worked as a Research Scientist at the Eastern Kentucky Environmental Research Institute at Eastern Kentucky University studying antibiotic resistance analysis in eastern Kentucky watersheds. She holds a Ph.D. in Soil Science/Environmental Soil Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, an M.S. in Soil Science/Environmental Soil Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University, and a B.S. in Agribusiness from Delaware State University. She also has passed the national test to become a certified research administrator.
